Triad Cultural Arts Juneteenth Celebration
The 160th anniversary of the local Juneteenth Festival will be commemorated by a series of events! The Black Joy Street Procession will begin at 11:30 am, starting at MLK Drive and Cleveland Ave and ending at Bailey Park in Innovation Quarter.Ā A special opening ceremony will be held at the Bailey Park stage at 12:30 pm.
This year’s celebration of African American heritage and freedom features music, spoken word, dance, food, arts, craftsĀ and traditions that have kept us!Ā
Juneteenth is an ADA accessible event.

On May 21, 1865, over 800 enslaved Africans gathered at the African Moravian Church (now St. Philips Moravian Church) to hear the reading of General Orders No. 32 declaring their freedom. Experience this powerful momentāsit in the original pews where freedom was first heard, as we honor our ancestors! Donāt miss it! Free and open to the public!
